Flowers have been an influential element to art and civilization with its rich symbolism. Botanical symbolism derives from literature of antiquity, where plants were often used as metaphors for virtue and vice, even as aesthetic visuals for the religious. Visual artist Kirk Dijamco reconstructs the conventional flora by abolishing stereotypes as he illuminates the forgotten, discarded, and the forsaken.

His still life flowers confront the viewers with a disciplined conflict: how one makes sense of the glorious blooms combined with the artist's blatant strokes and passionate hues. For Dijamco, they are declarations of pensive emotions-- a testimony on the lingering presence of the abandoned.

Kirk Dijamco is a self-taught Filipino contemporary artist. His works, heavily influenced by Francisco Goya and Diego Velasquez, reflect mostly classical style with religious themes. Dijamco’s works have been exhibited at Artery Art Space and Vinyl on Vinyl, and most recently at Art Fair Philippines 2022 under Modeka Creative Space.
