Francis Evangelista is a visual artist inclined to depict abstract renditions of the natural environment. Yet what makes his composition different from others is his approach – aside from bold strokes and striking earth tones, Evangelista goes beyond the traditional and adds patterns of intricate lines, shapes, and forms meant to illustrate, expand, and challenge human perceptions.

His latest collection for “Hues and Hymns” takes a closer look at the artist’s technicalities in his artmaking as nuances of nature are highlighted using pattern-clashing – variations of hues change and adapt as layers overlap, resulting in an endearing symphony of compositions. His continuous exploration of his craft is what makes each piece unique on its own, but once seen as a whole, illustrates an environment in which studies of the modern and contemporary exist in one realm.

“Every piece I’ve worked on is an experimental way of finding comfort.” The artist mentions. With these in mind, Evangelista is fervent to further create and discover the limitless capacities of his oeuvre. Francis G. Evangelista is a self-taught artist hailing from Rizal. From his formative years, the artist gained a passionate interest in the arts primarily influenced by his grandfather, who was an arc designer for the traditional Santa Cruzan. Strengthening his passion, he started painting in high school and graduated from the University of Rizal System, with his works inspired by the Honorable National Artist Fernando Amorsolo. It was during this time that Francis discovered the valuable impact of adept artistry in becoming a memorable artist.

Evangelista has kept a promising artistic career, continuing to shape and hone his craft by becoming a professional art teacher and conducting exclusive lessons for selected students. He’s a member of the Artipolo Group Inc. based in Antipolo, Rizal, and has actively participated in notable art competitions, murals, and commissioned works. He’s also one of Galerie Joaquin’s rising artists.
