Over the years, Jomar Delluba has come to appreciate the transformation of image-to-feeling inherent in a painted portrait; nothing else has the power to capture the personality and character of the subject than portraiture. For Delluba, creating portrait works is about exploring the lyricism of character and dynamics of a personality within a painted surface.

Through the artist’s distinct ode to the masters, he attempts to bridge the familiarity of the past with the vastness of the mysterious future. By highlighting the many ways in which the artists have represented or referenced a certain point in history, Jomar Delluba’s adaptation looks at the dialectic between admiration and idolatry through his own rendition.
